Neillsvillle Public Works Department Working to Clear Snow, Need Your Cooperation

Thursday, February 14th, 2019 -- 1:45 PM

-The Neillsville Public Works Department is asking for residents’ cooperation as they continue to clean the streets and remove all this snow.

Public Works Director Dave Flynn offered some reminders in regards to this snow during the Public Works portion of the Common Council meeting yesterday evening. He said his department is completely aware of all the snow piles that are around and they’re doing their best to remove them. He also reminds residents to use caution on the school routes because a lot of the snow piles are bigger then the kids, so be careful when going through those intersections. He also reminded residents to use more caution around their equipment. He said that if you can go down a different block to get around the equipment, do so. Dave said that, when it comes to plowing and snow removal, you’re a hazard. That equipment is dangerous and chunks of ice can shoot out and go through your windshield. He also understands the frustration of residents when the plows come through and fill in your driveway or even the sidewalk. He said that because of all the snow, they were casualties of the removal. He also said they will help you out when they can.

When it comes to parking, Dave asks that you park in a clear parking lot like the library/gazebo parking lot so they can clean the streets and not have to worry about your vehicle being in the way. For now, their main focus are the downtown area, the courthouse and up by Highway 10. They will get to the other streets as soon as they can, but it will be awhile. Dave said that they want to help you with snow removal, but they also need your help and cooperation to do so. Neillsville’s Mayor and members of the Council did provide praise to Dave and his crew for their work and they also relayed stories from residents offering their thanks.
