Thursday, November 15th, 2018 -- 11:15 AM

-A Neillsville woman charged with stealing over $170,000 from a Neillsville business was sentenced in Clark County Court on Wednesday.

Donna LaValley was charged after the owners of Russell’s of Neillsville discovered that she’d been stealing money from them. An investigation by the Neillsville Police Department determined that she’d been stealing money from May of 2010 to June of 2015. She would take money from the deposits and falsify returns with the amount coming to $170,067.27. During her court appearance on Wednesday, LaValley was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, 6 total counts of theft, 5 of them misdemeanors and 1 of them a felony. She paid $15,000 restitution up front and given a 4 year deferred entry of judgment on the felony.

She was placed on probation for 3 years on the misdemeanors with the requirement to have no contact with Russell’s of Neillsville, their owners and some employees, complete 100 hours community service, complete any counseling or treatment requested by the agent, pay court costs, and submit a DNA sample. If she successfully completes probation and does not commit any new crimes, the felony will be dismissed after 4 years.
