Stanley Man Sentenced for Accident that Resulted in the Death of his Passenger

Tuesday, November 6th, 2018 -- 9:53 AM

-A Stanley man charged with the death of his passenger after a one vehicle accident was sentenced in Clark County Court on Monday.

Back in October of last year, Jacob Person and Tasha Ley were traveling on Bridge Road in the Township of Hixon when they tried to pass a tractor. The SUV, driven by Person, struck the tractor as they tried to pass and rolled several times. Ley was ejected from the vehicle and killed. Person was taken to the hospital and disappeared briefly after the hospital failed to notify the Sheriff’s Department that he had been treated. Person turned himself into authorities about a week later.

Person was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, knowingly operating while suspended causing death. Another charge was dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to three years in prison and three years of extended supervision. He also owes the courts $1,078.99.
