Central Chamber Chorale Announces Veteran's Themed Concerts

Central Chamber Chorale, comprised of thirty experienced singers from across Central Wisconsin, will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I in a series of free concerts at three different sites.

On Friday, November 9th, they’ll be at the First Congregational Church in Wisconsin Rapids at 7:30pm. On Saturday, November 10th, they’ll be at ST. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford at 7:30pm. And on Sunday, November 11th, Veteran’s Day, they’ll be at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield at 3pm.

The concerts give tribute to “The Great War” (World War I) will feature songs written by composers who fought in World War I, songs about World War I, including In Flanders Field, a military medley and other songs of the period. Local veterans from all eras are invited to attend this meaningful musical event. The concerts are open to the public without charge. The Chorale, now in its 48th season, is directed by Dr. Richard Brunson, Associate Professor of Music at UW-Marshfield/Wood County. Mika Brunson, a member of the Las Vegas Philharmonic and Lecturer of Music at the UW campus accompanies the group.

The concert series is sponsored, in part, by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the state of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the arts and by the generous support of members of the community.
