Granton Village Board Hears Update on Purchasing Radar Speed Signs

-The Granton Village Board heard an update on purchasing some radar speed signs at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the village did receive an offer to purchase 2 radar speed signs for $5999. The board will look at this during budget planning. They’re also still looking at purchasing a locate machine and they reviewed some quotes for a new backhoe. The board compared the used backhoe offer from Kuhl for $50,000, which includes trade in value for their old backhoe, with the possibility of purchasing a new one. Initial quotes with trade in came back with Case offering $70,406, John Deer offering $66,500, CAT offering $73,200 and New Holland offering $81,900 with the trade in value not included on that one. The options for each quote vary so it is difficult to accurately compare.
The Village will request new quotes from each with several option including 4wd, extended hoe, stabilizer pads, cab with heat & AC, a dig depth of 15’+, quick detach, front fork tines, 2 buckets-24” & 36”, block heater/cold start package and a master shut off switch. Quotes will be requested for the Nov 14th meeting. Finally, they heard an update on the old fire truck. The old fire truck that was gifted to the village was returned to Kuhl. The title could not be located. Upon village research, it was discovered the truck was still in the original owners name back when Kuhl first obtained it.
