Clark County Man Sentenced for Accident that Resulted in the Death of his Passenger

Saturday, October 20th, 2018 -- 7:31 AM

-A Clark County man was sentenced in court Thursday to charges related to a crash that left his passenger dead.

Back in March of 2017, the Clark County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a one vehicle accident on Starr Road in the Township of Lynn. The vehicle, driven by Steven Faber of Chili, began to spin and rolled over several times after entering the ditch when Faber lost control of the vehicle. Both Faber and his passenger, 35-year-old Andy Mallory, were ejected from the vehicle. Mallory was pronounced dead at the scene and Faber was flown to the hospital. Speed and alcohol were factors in the accident. According to court documents, witnesses said that Faber had been harassing several Amish buggies before the accident occurred.

Back in June, Faber pleaded guilty to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Another charge was dismissed and read in and a third charge was dismissed on the prosecutor’s motion. Faber was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and 6.5 years of extended supervision. He also owes the courts $3,042.12.
