Public Works Report at Neillsville City Council Meeting

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Public Works Report at their meeting on Tuesday.

The usual amount of work was done in the city including cemetery and parks maintenance, equipment maintenance, trimming and pruning trees, maintaining street lighting, filling pot holes, hauling brush and compost, mowing, watering flowers, street sweeping, fixing storm sewer inlets and sink holes and more. They also completed repairs at the tennis court, prepared the baseball and softball fields and are working on cleaning trails in the Arboretum. The FEMA project at 822 Grand Avenue is continuing and the house will soon be demolished. Paving is done in the city for the year as they ran out of money. Also, they are working on fixing the fountain. The cost to rebuild the pump and motor is $2,700.

It was also mentioned that if you have any branches or other debris due to the recent wave of storms, you can put them by the curb and the department will work on removing them. There were some trees down in the city due to the storms, but there were no reports of injuries. The Public Works Department is also working on an ongoing issue with the building owned by the Clark County Humane Society in downtown Neillsville. Finally, the council heard the Historic Preservation Commission report from their meeting on August 9th. The approved a $500 grant, discussed the 2019 calendars and discussed their 2018 Christmas Tour of Homes.
