Neillsville School Board Reviews Budget Numbers at Annual School Board Meeting

Wednesday, August 29th, 2018 -- 8:02 AM

-The Neillsville School Board reviewed the numbers regarding the next school year’s budget at the Annual School Board meeting on Monday.

The total amount for the General Fund is $10,905,150. Fund 80, the Community Service Fund, is $75,000. That money is used for community services and recreational activities, which are provided by the City of Neillsville and the Neillsville School District. It was also mentioned during the meeting that Neillsville had no debt and is one of the few school districts in that situation. They also started the Fund 46 account. This allows the district to put leftover money at the end of the year into the fund, which can be used later for building maintenance or projects. However, the money must stay in the fund for 5 years after it’s established. Neillsville has 4 years left before they can use it.

Neillsville has also seen a large decrease in their revenue limit compared to 10 years ago. The revenue limit for 2018-19 is $8,798,400 compared to 2008-09’s $10,126,685. The limit has been frozen for many years and the decrease is due to declining enrollment.
