Clark County Board of Supervisors Approves Resolution Supporting Hosting Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in 2022

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018 -- 8:02 AM

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution supporting the county to host Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in 2022.

This resolution doesn’t mean Clark County will be hosting Farm Technology Days in 2022. It simply means they support the county hosting it should Clark County be awarded the opportunity. Clark County will need to put a proposal together by October to pitch to the Farm Technology Days Board on why they should host the event in 2022. Several members of the board felt that it was time to bring the Farm Show back to the heart of America’s Dairyland, Clark County. The show has a host county for 2019 and 2020. The Farm Technology Days Board is working on the host for the 2021 show as the original host county backed out.

The board heard a presentation from Dennis Bangart, an organizer with Wood County’s show this year, and he talked about the benefits of hosting the show, but also stated that it is a lot of work. Many volunteers, time and money is need to host the show. With the passing of the resolution, it states that Clark County is committed to providing $20,000 for the show, with the anticipation of making that money back. However, the return of that funding isn’t always guaranteed. Many times, counties that host Farm Technology Days are lucky if they break even. There was also clarification provided on a permanent site for Clark County. Recently, conversations about Clark County being a permanent site for the show were brought up again. This had been discussed back in 2009 as well.

Due to the Farm Technology Days Board having a hard time finding counties to host the show, it has been discussed having a permanent location. Many feel that Clark County should be that host because of the county’s importance to Wisconsin’s Dairy Industry. However, it seems like when that conversation begins again, counties then rush to apply to host the show “one last time” before it becomes permanent. At this point, the county is merely applying to host the show in 2022, but that is not a guarantee. Also, nothing is set in stone in regards to a permanent location.
