Granton Village Board Hears Granton Area Fire Association Update

Thursday, August 16th, 2018 -- 10:14 AM

-The Granton Village Board heard an update from the 2018 Granton Area Fire Association Meeting at their meeting last week.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, back in April, the DNR was presented information on the Back Flow Preventer. It was advised that the DNR requires a back flow preventer be used when filling the fire trucks to prevent cross contamination. It was advised that if the Granton Fire Department chooses not to use one or uses it improperly and the water becomes contaminated, all fines and clean-up costs would be assigned to the department. It was advised that this information needs to be in the meeting minutes. The clerk for the department contacted the village in May and asked if the village could provide the information for the meeting minutes. This was happily provided and sent via mail as requested. Unfortunately, the meeting minutes were not accurately recorded, despite providing the information. A letter advising the inaccuracy of the meeting minutes and a request for correction were sent to both the clerk and the president of the Fire Department.

The board also heard the Treasurer’s Report. The beginning balance in checking was $60,209.93 and ending balance $100,641.27. This includes Shared Revenue. The beginning balance in the money market account was $447,605.11 ending balance is $449,042.55. This includes money earmarked for scoreboard donations. The beginning balance in the Library account was $32,137.86 and ending balance is $32,332.85. The board also reviewed the expense and deposit report. Finally, during the Open Forum part of the meeting, they discussed elections and complaints regarding cats in the village.
