Granton Village Board Discussed Updating Electrical Poles

-The Granton Village Board discussed updating the electrical poles for Christmas lighting at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, last spring Xcel Energy advised they would no longer allow the village to place their Christmas decorations on their poles unless they add ground fault interrupters and a 3rd disconnect to each pole. Handt Electric will update the poles and provide weatherproof wiring with mast for $185 per pole. There are 8 poles that require this upgrade. A motion to upgrade the 8 poles to allow for Christmas lighting displays made and approved. The Village Board also gave permission to sell the old Christmas lights for $30 each for the small ones and $50 each for the big ones with tinsel.
The board also heard the Water Report. Chlorine and Bac T samples were taken and the mandatory state water testing is complete. Park updates include resetting the baseball diamonds, placing stone around the pavilion, planting more trees in the campground, repairing the bubbler, and taking down the old scoreboard. Cemetery upkeep was complete. Road updates include filling potholes, cleanup of loose gravel on the roads and the manhole on Parkway was raised. The backhoe and lawnmowers were repaired. House numbers were provided to residents who do not have house numbers displayed and an employee attended the North Collections Solution Seminar.
