Disaster Declaration Approved for June Floods in Clark County

Monday, August 13th, 2018 -- 12:37 PM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The current Administration has approved a major disaster declaration for six counties impacted by flooding earlier this summer in northwestern Wisconsin.

The counties named in the declaration include Clark County as well as Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas and Iron counties after severe storms moved across the region on June 16, bringing heavy rains and flash flooding. "Communities in northwestern Wisconsin have been working hard since the June flooding to repair the damage to roads and bridges," said Governor Walker, who requested the declaration last month. "This federal disaster declaration will help with the unexpected costs incurred by the devastating floods and severe storms, and it will help us move forward with the recovery process."

Assessments show that the storm brought more than $13.1 million in damage to public infrastructure. Communities in the declared counties are now eligible to apply for federal disaster assistance.
