Black River Falls Man Appears in Jackson County Court for Starting Fire Above a Bar

-A Black River Falls man arrested after starting a fire above a bar appeared in Jackson County Court.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, in December of 2019, they received a call from Joseph Berg stating he started a fire in an apartment above a bar in Black River Falls.  When the department arrived, there was smoke coming from underneath the door of the apartment.  Berg was pacing on the roof of the building when the department arrived.  He stated he was dealing with some mental health issues.

Berg is facing charges of arson, 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety, criminal damage to property and possession of THC.  During his recent arraignment, he entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him.
