Marshfield Police Department Responds to Scam Report

-The Marshfield Police Department responded to a scam report on Thursday.A resident reported that he found an ad on Craig’s List listing his late brother’s home for rent. The man stated he just sold the home on Wednesday and the new owners are not the ones listing it for rent. The man tried to get in touch with whoever posted the ad and said he wanted to report it to authorities in case some tried to use the ad to rent the home. The Department advised the man to report it to Craig’s List admin. The ad states that the homeowners will be away for 3-4 years and they need someone to rent the home.
The department advised the resident to avoid contact with the individual listing the ad all together. The department also contacted the individual posting the ad and told them to remove it, but they hung up.
