Marshfield Man Threatens Residents and Authorities with Knives

Monday, July 23rd, 2018 -- 11:57 AM

(WDLB) -A Marshfield man is in the Wood County jail after going after police armed with knives.

52-year-old Patrick Langreck is facing four counts of recklessly endangering safety, in connection with a Friday incident in the 200 block of North Spruce Street. Police Chief Rick Gramza says Marshfield officers responded to a call about a man wielding a knife. He chased two social workers from his home while armed with a knife, and then threw the knife at their vehicle as they left.

When officers arrived on scene, Langreck refused to drop the knife or talk to officers. He eventually started walking toward police still armed with two knives. Instead of live ammunition, Marshfield police once again utilized less-lethal bean bag rounds and K-9 Officer “H” to defuse the situation. Langreck was safely taken into custody and transported to the Wood County Jail after medical clearance. He's on probation, and facing four counts of recklessly endangering safety. The Wood County District Attorney will consider the charges today.
