Clark County Considered in Disaster Declaration from June Flooding

Monday, July 23rd, 2018 -- 11:56 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Gov. Scott Walker is asking the current administration for a federal disaster declaration for six northwestern Wisconsin counties that sustained flood damage back in June.

The request is for assistance to help local governments recover from the disaster includes here in Clark County as well as Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas and Iron counties. On June 16, heavy rains fell in the region causing record flooding across portions of northwestern Wisconsin. Numerous roads and culverts were washed out and damaged as a result of the storm. Meanwhile, several state and federal agencies spent the past week conducting damage assessments across the impacted area and estimated that it would cost $13.1 million for debris clearance, emergency protective measures and damage to roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

If approved, FEMA would provide 75 percent of eligible costs, with the state and local communities picking up the remainder.
