Granton Village Board Discusses Scoreboard

Wednesday, July 18th, 2018 -- 8:02 AM

-The Granton Village Board discussed the scoreboard for the park at their meeting on Wednesday of last week.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, to date, the donations for the new scoreboard total $3400. The scoreboard will cost between $6000 and $6600 depending on which controller is purchased. The village continues to reach out to local residents and businesses to assist in installation. The quote from Daktronics to install the scoreboard is $3000, but they are hopeful they can install it themselves. A resident has been instrumental in leading the continued efforts for fund raising the cost of the scoreboard. He has presented several ideas including advertising on the fence line. The goal is to have the money earned and the new scoreboard installed by Fall Fest. A motion to order the BA-624 scoreboard for $4992 and the All Sport 5010 scoring kit with mobile transmitter for $800 with shipping costs of 645.00 was made and approved.

The village also approved to make a bid a parcel at 516 Main Street. This foreclosed property is on the market for $19,800. This is a 3 acres parcel with a home that, in the board’s opinion, cannot be salvaged. This parcel connects with the village’s park and the abandon home is on Main Street and needs to be cleaned up. The board approved to make a bid of $10,500 on the land. Finally, the board discussed the officer position and sale of police equipment. The sale of the police equipment will hold for another month. Marshfield Ordinance officers are Humane Officer trained and can issue tickets for specific ordinance violations. This is still an option but the board would like to contact the surrounding townships to see if they were interested in hiring a police officer to share among the surrounding townships.
