Absentee Voting for WI Primary Has Begun

Sunday, July 15th, 2018 -- 6:02 AM

Absentee voting for Wisconsin's Aug. 14 primary has begun, but the process for casting a ballot early varies across the state.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission recommended Friday that voters wishing to cast a ballot early contact their local municipal clerk's office to see what days and hours they are open. Elections Commission administrator Meagan Wolfe says voters can make appointments for offices that don't keep regular hours. The deadline for voters to request a mailed absentee ballot it Aug. 9.

All absentee ballots must be returned to the municipal clerk's office by 8 p.m. on Election Day. The last day for in-person absentee voting is Aug. 11, but many cities stop on Friday Aug. 10. An eight-person Democratic race for governor and a Republican primary for U.S. Senate top the Aug. 14 ballot. (AP)
