Former Police Chief of Thorp Sentenced for Sexual Assault of a Child

Thursday, July 12th, 2018 -- 9:56 AM

-Thorp’s former police chief was sentenced for sexual assault of a child in Clark County Court on Wednesday.

According to court records, a girl, who was around 6-year-old when the assaults happened, stated that Richard Boie touched her private areas on several occasions. The girl said the assaults happened at Boie’s home. Boie had a jury trial back in April and he was found guilty by the jury and a sentencing hearing was set for July.

However, a competency exam was asked for by Boie’s lawyer. During his court appearance on Monday, Boie was found competent to continue with his court proceedings. Boie, who was Thorp’s Police Chief from 1970-1978, was sentenced to 5 years in state prison and 12 years extended supervision.
