2018 Miss Neillsville and Little Miss Neillsville Crowned

Friday, July 6th, 2018 -- 11:29 AM

-The new Miss Neillsville court has been crowned.

The Miss Neillsville Queen Coronation, a part of Neillsville Heritage Days, took place in the Neillsville High School Auditorium Thursday evening. Three Neillsville teens were vying for the title of Miss Neillsville including Lily Frank, Vanessa Zickert and Teegan Mahoney. The girls were judged on several different topics including speeches and impromptu questions. In the end, Teegan Mahoney was crowned Miss Neillsville, Lily Frank was crowned as 1st Princess and Vanessa Zickert was crowned as 2nd Princess.

I spoke with Teegan after her crowning and she, of course, said she was very excited.

"I feel very honored. I'm very excited to start all the Heritage Days events going on. I'm really excited for the glow run tonight especially. It seems like it's going to be fun for a new event for Heritage Days. I'm definitely excited and ecstatic right now."

She also explained why she decided to run for Miss Neillsville.

"I ran for Little Miss Neillsville in 2010 and I remember how much fun it was. Being with the older court was so much fun, so I want to give that to the Little Miss Neillsville Court too and just having fun with the current court too."

Teegan and her court will hit the ground running with Heritage Days events this weekend. She talked about some of the events she’s looking forward too.

"Definitely the parade! I have to get ready for that one!"

There were also seven little girls vying for the title of Little Miss Neillsville. Little Miss Neillsville is simply determined by the luck of the draw. Their names are placed in a box and drawn out by the outgoing Little Miss Court. In the end Ella Erickson was selected as Little Miss Neillsville, Ava Kruschke was selected as 1st Princess and Kacey Beelman was selected as 2nd Princess.

The new court will take over the duties of the outgoing court including Dana Bautch as Miss Neillsville and Carcyn Schmitz as Little Miss Neillsville.
