Compliance Maintenance Annual Report and More at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council heard the Compliance Maintenance Annual Report at their meeting last week.

The council approved the Compliance Maintenance Annual Report as presented and passed Compliance Maintenance Resolution No. 2018-5. The council also approved increasing the wage of a Public Works Employee to $12.50 per hour. They council heard a report on the Owen-Withee Police Commission. The committee is holding a meeting on July 3rd to go through applications and interviews will commence the week of July 9th. The council also discussed a dry hydrant for Mill Pond. Installing a dry hydrant in the Mill Pond would allow for easier access for the fire trucks to draw water from there. The council heard the Parks and Rec Report from their recent meeting. The committee had done a walkthrough of both the Mill Pond Park and Crowley Campground and a location was considered for the dog park. The council also approved the appointment of Darlene Zukowski and Carla Rihiinen to the TIF Joint Review Board.

Finally, the council heard the Community Development Authority Director’s Report. Tim Swiggum reported on the Joint of Review Board for TIF’s 3 and 4. Also due to the permitting process for Heartland taking so long, Tim feels the city may need help from the state. The Growin’ Owen project looking good, but they would appreciate more help. America in Bloom judges will be here July 23rd & 24th for the project. Fliers are still needed from area business for the city’s booth at Farm Technology Days and the Wi-Fi park pavilion across from the Library is progressing.
