Neillsville Fire Department Responds to Gas Leak Friday Afternoon

-The Neillsville Fire Department responded to reports of a gas leak on Friday afternoon.The department received a report of someone digging and hitting a gas line at 108 W. Tenth Street just after 3pm on Friday. When the department arrived, they discovered an independent contractor had been digging with a post hole digger and struck the gas line. The department could smell gas when they arrived. They secured the area, kept people away and contacted WE Energies.
The department was scene for an hour and they received mutual aid from the Neillsville Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Department. WE Energies fixed the gas line.
