Build Your Own Round Barn Contest at 2018 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Wood County

Friday, June 29th, 2018 -- 8:02 AM

-Wood County, this year's host county for Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, is home to the World's Largest Round Barn - located at the Central Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in Marshfield.

This iconic structure was built in 1916 and recently celebrated its 100th birthday. As part of Farm Tech Days, the Innovation Square committee is hosting a contest for youth to try their hand at building their own round barn. There will be three age brackets for participating students: 7 and under, 8-12, and 13-18. Participants are urged to create a scaled down replica of the infamous Round Barn, using any materials of their choice. The final project should be no longer than one square foot. To enter, participants should attach a tag on their project, including their full name, age, address and phone number. They should also list what materials were used, why they chose to use that material, disclose how long it took to complete the project and what their total cost was.

Finished projects should be brought to Marshfield Clinic Health Systems Innovation Square by noon on Tuesday, July 10. All participants will receive a small participation prize and one winner from each age group will be selected by the host families to win a $50 gift certificate. Winners will be announced at noon on July 12. All projects should be picked up by 4:00 p.m. on July 12.
