Neillsville City Council Hears Public Works Report

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Public Works Report at their meeting on Tuesday.

The usual amount of work was done in the city including cemetery and parks maintenance, equipment maintenance, trimming and pruning trees, maintaining street lighting, filling pot holes, cleaning brush and compost, the tree removal grant project is done and just waiting for reimbursement, street sweeping and more. They’re also continuing with the FEMA project at 822 Grand Avenue, working on the sewer plant non-compliance issues, working on curb and gutter, helping with the construction of the new bandstand in Schuster Park and more. Finally, the department is working on traffic control lines and continuing to work on nuisance properties. The council also heard some quick updates on Tourism’s impact in the count and Neillsville’s and Clark County’s presence at Farm Technology Days in a couple weeks. The council also heard the report from the Community Fire Hall Board from their meeting on June 21st.

Things are doing well at the Fire Hall, their finances are looking good and they approved to renew their Fire Hall Insurance at a cost of $1,347 minus the Terrorism Clause they had in their old policy. Finally, the council heard the report from the Commission on Economic Development from their meeting on June 18th. The commission heard an update on the progress of Memorial Medical Center’s and Marshfield Clinic’s merger. They also heard from Jon Weiler, the General Manager of The Highground and the many items they have going on. Sheila Nyberg with the Clark County Economic Development Corporation also provided an update on Clark County’s growth and the commission heard a request for funds from two residents.
