-Emergency services responded to Memorial Medical Center for a report of a chemical leak Friday afternoon.

The Neillsville Police Department, Neillsville Fire Department and other emergency services responded to Memorial Medical Center after reports of a chemical leak at the facility. The Neillsville Fire Department located the source of the odor in the maintenance area of the facility. According to the department, the chemicals used to clean the hospitals tools and equipment leaked while they were being disposed of and it caused an odor that smelled like ammonia.

The hospital was evacuated briefly, but patients and staff were able to return to the facility and normal operations were resumed. Emergency Services and Memorial Medical Center appreciates the cooperation of the Neillsville community.
