Excessive Rain Causing Headaches

Tuesday, June 19th, 2018 -- 11:08 AM

-The much needed rain from last week has now turned into a nuisance rain as areas around the state experience flooding, downed trees and more.

There were reports of downed trees and tree limbs around the county Monday after Sunday’s storms. Flooding has also closed the county ATV/UTV trails. And farmer’s fields continue to get drenched and flooded by the large amounts of rain. In the Town of McMillan, north of Marshfield, several roadways were washed out. Drake Avenue from Pine Street to State Highway 97, Galvin Avenue from Elm to Birch Street, Galvin Avenue from Elm Street to Highway C and Birch Street from State Highway 97 to Cayman Avenue are the portions closed to traffic.

Emergency officials want to remind people not to drive through flooded roadways as you don’t know how deep the water is and what kind of conditions are present under the water. When people don’t follow the signs and take a detour, it creates a potentially life-threatening situation for anyone in the car.
