Owen-Withee School Board Hears Administrators' Reports

Monday, June 18th, 2018 -- 8:02 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting last week.

Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on the end of year activities including the Student Recognition Day and Awards Assembly. Monday was the first day of summer school with about 140 kids participating in the 3 week program. Swimming lessons began Monday as well. Finally, he presented to the board the 2018 Spring AGR report for grades K-3. Jr./Sr. High School Dean of Student Julie VanArk reported that reports cards for the end of the year have been mailed and that the first session of summer school is underway with Mr. Eichstadt teaching English credit recovery, Mr. Lewison teaching Driver’s Ed and Mrs. Koehler and Mr. Bednar teaching the online credit recovery classes. Finally, Ms. Kodl and Ashely Amacher will be traveling to the FBLA National Competition in Baltimore the end of June.

Finally, District Administrator Bob Houts reported that the district, once again, will receive a TEACH Teacher training grant as part of the Clark County Technology Consortium. The districts of Greenwood, Loyal, Neillsville, Owen-Withee and Spencer will use the money to send teachers technology training opportunities. He also discussed the possible need to move the July meeting due to a lack of a quorum of board members, but a straw poll of members showed that at least 5 of the seven members will be in attendance on July 9th, so no change was needed.
