Granton Village Board Hears Building Project Proposal

Sunday, June 17th, 2018 -- 6:19 AM

-The Granton Village Board heard a proposal for a building project on Main Street at their meeting on Wednesday.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the owner of the property located at 317 Main Street would like to discuss his idea of demolishing the existing structure and erecting a storage unit. There was no contact from the owner so the item was postponed, but the board did discuss the option and was interested to know what design would be built, the number of units, and the driveway accessibility to the structure. The board also approved a long list of liquor and operator’s licenses. After the retirement of their police officer, Granton is currently without one. The board has continued to discuss options regarding the police position and whether or not to pursue filling it. Marshfield has ordinance officers and the village would like to investigate what it would take to pursue this option.

The sale of the police items, including a Computer, Printer, Body Camera, 12 gauge Rifle, Gun, Walkie Talkies, Bullet Proof Vest, CB Radio, will be put on hold until the board can investigate this option. The board did discuss the officer’s hand gun which is 16 years old and the bullet proof vest that was fitted specifically for him. The board approved giving it as a gift to the former officer.
