Neillsville City Council Approves Preliminary Resolutions Regarding Special Assessments

Wednesday, June 13th, 2018 -- 9:38 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved a couple preliminary resolutions regarding special assessments at their meeting on Tuesday.

The assessments are for curb and gutter installations in two different locations. One is on Prospect Street from West 15th to West 18th Street. The other is East 6th Street from Center Street to Willow Street. The resolutions are slightly different as the city is levying the special assessments under municipal police power for the health, safety and general welfare of the city and its residents. The total amount assessed against the properties in the affected area will not exceed 100% of the total cost of the improvements.

During the appearances portion of the meeting, the council heard, again, from a resident unhappy about the sidewalk ordinance that was passed last year. The ordinance addresses the use of personal scooters on roads and the resident, who uses a scooter, claims that using hers on the sidewalk has caused her more medical issues.
