Granton School Board Discusses Pool Project

-The Granton School Board discussed their pool and locker room project at their meeting on Monday.

A representative from CESA 10 sent an update on the progress of the pool and locker room. The board also approved the pool wall grinding, tuck-pointing and insulation contract bid to Hanson Masonry and approved the automated pool blanket contract bid to Neuman Pools. The board also approved ordering new boys basketball uniforms, approved the Long-term Capital Improvement Plan and approved creating the Long-term Capital Improvement Trust Fund or Fund 46. Finally, the board approved the first reading of the updated Visitors to School and Public Conduct on School Property Policy. The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Principal Julie Kolarik discussed instructional matters including scheduling for next year nearing completion. Mrs. Shelly Schmitz presented the results of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey. Also, the Academic and Career Planning Committee completed the curriculum and activities for the 2018-19 school year.

In student matters, Mrs. Kolarik stated that graduation held Saturday May 26th went very well and summer school credit recovery began Monday June 11th. Superintendent Scott Woodington reported that the School Safety Grant and the School Based Mental Health Grant were completed and submitted. The Blue Ribbon Commission on School Funding held their final session on June 4th at the State Capital with over six hours of testimonies. Finally, he stated that on June 7th, the staff reviewed new four safety procedures, Lockout, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter based on the Standard Response Protocols.
