Marshfield Man Sentenced for Sexual Assault of a Child

-A Marshfield man caught sexually assaulting a young girl was sentenced in Wood County Court on Monday.Gary Kern was caught sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13. According to the girl’s mother, she walked in on Kern touching her daughter inappropriately. She got her daughter away from him and called the authorities. When police caught up with him, he was threatening to harm himself. Back in April, Kern was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, 1st degree sexual assault of a child under 13, incest with a child, and child enticement-sexual contact.
He was sentenced to seven years in prison and eight years extended supervision. He will be a lifelong registered sex offender.
