Spencerama Days Returns

Friday, June 8th, 2018 -- 9:14 AM

(WDLB) -Spencerama two-point-oh is back for another year. After a 16-year hiatus, organizers Harley Meyer and Deb Schaefer brought it back last year, and it paid off.

Deb: "We are looking for bigger, better and more fun this year. We have a petting zoo coming, games throughout the weekend, face painting, a coin day and many more opportunities for the kids to have fun. One of our big events is our human Foosball, which isn't necessarily for kids, but kids will be allowed too. We have a family tournament and we have many age group tournaments starting at 11-years-old."

Today’s lineup includes the Spencer Chamber Dairy Breakfast from 5-to-10 a-m, the Spencer Fire Department ring toss at 5:30 p-m, the Legion fish fry from 5-to-8 p-m, a mini tractor pull from 6-to-8, and music by Bad Downs from eight-to-midnight. There’s a Boy Scout pancake breakfast from 7-to-11 Saturday morning, followed by Miss Spencerama judging at 11:30 and coronation at 2 p-m, a strongman truck pull at 6 p-m. Sunday features the parade at noon, along with a community worship service beforehand at 8:30 and cars in the park starting at 9:30.

Log on to spencerwi.org for more information about this year’s Spencerama days this weekend in Spencer, centered mainly around the village park. The Marathon County village brought back the tradition that dates back to the mid-1960's, but before last year had not been done since 2001. The Spencer Jaycees held the inaugural Spencerama Days in 1965, advertised as a community celebration.
