Thorp Baseball Team Makes First Trip To State

Thorp beat Butternut/​Mercer 12-2 in a Division 4 sectional final on Tuesday at Shell Lake and will make their first trip to State in baseball.Austin Lagasse had three hits and five RBIs, including a pair driven in on a triple to key a six-run sixth inning, to lead Thorp to their win over Butternut/Mercer. Jakob Rosemeyer had three hits and three RBIs and Reece Drost struck out seven in a complete game for the Cardinals.
Earlier in the day, Thorp beat Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran 6-1 in the Sectional Semi-Final. Rosemeyer had three RBIs and pitched a complete-game four-hitter. Ryan Stunkel and Drost both had a pair of hits.
Thorp (13-10) will now face Johnson Creek in the second Division 4 State Semi-Final next Wednesday morning at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.
