Clark County Updates Human Services Transportation Coordination Plan

Tuesday, June 5th, 2018 -- 11:41 AM

-The Clark County Department of Social Services, along with many other county departments, groups, organizations and community members, updated their Human Services Transportation Coordination Plan on Monday.

Suzanne Schoen, the Business Officer Manager for the department, talked about the purpose of the meeting held on Monday.

"This meeting was held because we received federal and state funding, so every five years the state and the federal government implements that you have a fiver year coordination meeting."

The plan is completed every 5 years and was recently done back in 2013. Under the guidance of the West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, those present reviewed the goals that were created back in 2013 and identified that, all though progress has been made, they were still goals they wanted to accomplish with this updated plan. They also identified action items they could do in order to accomplish those goals and what groups would be involved. They also identified road blocks that could hinder them from accomplishing those goals.

The five goals of Clark County’s plan are strive to increase transportation services to create sustainable transportation services; maximize the efficiency of transportation services through technology, innovation and coordination; develop/expand/continue transportation services; increase transportation options for the transportation disadvantaged; and develop and improve access information and increase awareness of transportation services including marketing and educational outreach.

With the plan completed, Suzanne explained what she hopes is the result of the plan.

"I hope more people know about transportation services in Clark County and we can grow those services in the county."
