Stanley-Boyd School District May Hire 3rd Party to Investigate Lunch Claims

Friday, June 1st, 2018 -- 9:49 AM

-The Stanley-Boyd School District may hire a third party to investigate the handling of its lunch program.

The Stanley-Boyd School Board held a meeting with parents and administrators earlier this week to address some issues that had occurred with student lunches. According to reports, students who had a negative lunch balance were having their lunches taken and thrown away. The district denied the food was thrown away, but did say some students were having their lunches in sealed containers taken and put back so another student could purchase it. The school district may hire one of three agencies to investigate the matter including the State Department of Public Instruction, the Cooperative Educational Service Agency and the Wisconsin Association of School Boards.

The district has said that some changes have been made already in regards to their lunch program including students paying for their lunch at the front of the line, as opposed to the back, so they know right away if their account is in the negative. They also said that better communication is needed with parents so they know when the account is in the negative or close to it.
