Extreme Fire Conditions, Do Not Burn

Monday, April 30th, 2018 -- 11:14 AM

(AP) -With Clark County’s wildfires on Sunday, the Wisconsin DNR wants to remind residents of the fire danger around the state.

Warm, dry and windy weather has created prime conditions for wildfires all across Wisconsin. Clark County is currently under very high fire danger. Our neighboring counties of Taylor, Chippewa, Eau Claire and Jackson are under very high fire danger as well. Wood and Marathon Counties are under high fire danger. Most of the state is either under very high or high fire danger and some western counties are under extreme fire danger.

The DNR asks that you not burn any debris and be extremely cautious if you’re going to be using a campfire, outdoor grills or even if you smoke. By late afternoon Sunday, over 35 wildfires were reported around Wisconsin. The DNR responded to 25 of them.
