Friday, April 13th, 2018 -- 7:59 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -After 35 years of serving the industry, Wisconsin's dairy check-off program is now going by a new name.

This week, the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board announced it has gone through a rebranding effort and will now be called 'Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin.' CEO Chad Vincent says board members felt the change represents a new strategic mission and identity that more firmly aligning the efforts of Wisconsin's dairy farmers to grow into the future. DFW Board Chairman Jeff Strassburg adds that the change will put state producers in a better position to grow in the current struggling ag economy. Leaders of the former WMMB feel the new name also builds awareness of Wisconsin-produced dairy products by creating national publicity, managing digital advertising, and driving sales, distribution and trial through retail and foodservice promotions.

The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board was formed in 1983. The program has a budget of just over $30 million, which is generated by an assessment charged for ever hundred pounds of milk sold by producers in the state.
