Marshfield Man Enters Plea for Sexual Assault

-A Marshfield man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl appeared in Wood County Court on Friday.32-year-old Gary Kern has been accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13. According to the girl’s mother, she walked in on Kern touching her daughter inappropriately. She got her daughter away from him and called the authorities. When police caught up with him, he was threatening to harm himself.
On Friday, Kern entered a plea to the charges against him, which include 1st degree sexual assault of a child under 13, incest with a child, and child enticement-sexual contact. His sentencing date is set for June 11 and, if sentenced to the maximum amount, he could spend 125 year in prison.
