Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week, Weather Events

Thursday, April 5th, 2018 -- 8:01 AM

-Next week is Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin, but it’s more than just tornadoes that can affect people in the state.

Clark County Emergency Management, Wisconsin Emergency Management, ReadyWisconsin and the National Weather Service want to remind residents of the other dangers of severe weather including heavy rains, flooding, high wind and lightening. Flooding can happen even here in Clark County. The floods that occurred in September of 2016 caused over $1.4 million to buildings and infrastructure throughout the county. Farmers experienced devastating losses and people had to have work done to their homes. County trails systems and many roads needed to be repaired as well.

Spring is always an unpredictable time in regards to the weather. Last weekend’s and this week’s winter storms are evidence of that. Emergency Management says you should be prepared at all times for whatever weather event that may come your way.
