Marshfield PDC Has New Name and Location

Friday, March 30th, 2018 -- 9:01 AM

(WDLB) -Marshfield’s Personal Development Center is not only getting a new location, but a new name as well.

P-D-C announced Thursday it has secured financing to acquire the former Transitional Homeless Shelter in Marshfield. Executive Director Renee Schulz said in a written statement P-D-C has “signed all necessary documents for purchase of what was the transitional shelter, and is moving forward with our project”. She also said her organization will be initiating a fundraising campaign to pay off the loan as quickly as possible. The financing was necessary after the Marshfield Common Council voted 7-to-2 Tuesday night against giving P-D-C 80-thousand dollars to cover the acquisition of the now-defunct homeless shelter for the cost of the land at 505 East Depot Street. The building and current contents are being donated by their previous owners??"St. Vincent DePaul.

P-D-C is a private, non-profit domestic abuse and assault victim services agency providing case management, advocacy, and prevention education to individuals and families in the greater Marshfield area and Clark County. It’s been around since 1977. And it’s now going through a rebranding. The Personal Development Center will now be known as the P-D-C/Orenda Center. Schulz said P-D-C hopes to move into the homeless shelter property by May first.
