Tuesday, March 27th, 2018 -- 11:13 AM

-The Clark County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the man severely injured when the SUV he was driving was involved in a crash on Highway 29 by Koser Avenue in the Township of Thorp.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call of the crash around 2am on Friday March 23th. An initial investigation indicates an SUV, being driven by 35-year-old Gerardo Alvarez, was north bound when he failed to stop at a stop sign on Koser Ave. The SUV entered the intersection and struck a semi traveling east on 29 on its passenger side. The SUV spun clockwise and entered the south east ditch. The semi was being driven by 39-year-old Chad Miller from Hardwick Minnesota. Chad and his passenger, 30-year-old Elizabeth Johnson from Kentucky, were unharmed. Both Chad and Elizabeth were wearing their seatbelts. Alvarez was ejected from the crash and was found pinned underneath the vehicle. He was taken by helicopter to the Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire for serious injuries. Several of the cows the semi was transporting were killed as a result of the crash.

The Thorp Area Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Thorp Police Department, Mayo Helicopter and the Stanley Police Department. The Investigation is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the State Patrol.
