Wells Announces Retirement as Marshfield Schools Superintendent

Saturday, March 24th, 2018 -- 8:38 AM

(WDLB) -The Marshfield School District is looking for a new leader. Superintendent Dee Wells is retiring.

At a special meeting Thursday night, the Marshfield Board of Education voted 5-to-nothing in favor of accepting the retirement request from Wells. She says her retirement will be effective June 30th, at the end of the current academic year.

Wells became the Marshfield School Superintendent in 2014, and has enjoyed her time calling it “a very inspiring time”. She highlights working with the district’s Career and Technical Education programs. Wells is also proud of helping to develop a student exchange partnership with a community in China, which has brought students to Marshfield for the past few years.

Wells was born in Missouri, but grew up in Medford, and was a teacher and administrator there, before taking a similar job in a Twin Cities suburb. She’s been in education for 35 years, taking her first teaching job as a speech language pathologist in southern Wisconsin in 1983.
