Abbotsford Shooting Suspect Appears in Marathon County Court this Afternoon

Monday, January 22nd, 2018 -- 11:16 AM

(WDLB) -A murder suspect is scheduled to make an initial court appearance today, in connection with a double homicide over the weekend in Abbotsford.

Two people were found murdered after a shooting early Saturday morning, and another person was wounded. During a Saturday afternoon press conference at the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department, Marathon County Sheriff's Department Captain Greg Bean said a male suspect was taken into custody near the scene shortly after the shootings took place, and investigators are working to find out what led to the killings. Colby-Abby Police Chief Jason Bauer said the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call shortly after three o-clock Saturday morning reporting a shooting at 406 East Maple Street in Abbotsford.

Captain Bean said one male and one female were found dead inside the residence, and the other shooting victim was a female. He said names are not being released at this time. Bean also indicated the victims knew their attacker, and that others were present in the home when the shootings took place. He did not say if any of them were children. The suspect is scheduled to make an initial Marathon County court appearance at two o-clock this afternoon.
