December and Annual Report of Officers at Neillsville City Council Meeting

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Report of Officers at their meeting on Tuesday.

Neillsville’s Police Chief Scott Klueckmann reported on December of 2017. They had 93 complaints, 47 service calls, 45 taffic citations, 90 traffic warnings, 5 crash investigations, 2 ordinance citations, 9 adult arrests, 3 cases referred to the D.A.’s office, 0 juvenile cases and 26 parking citations. Some other notable activity for December includes the beginning employment of their new administrative assistant and a zoning violation on Hewett Street, which has since been brought into compliance. The department is also investigating an incident involving a 57-year-old Colby man went to the U.S. Department of Agriculture building with a gun on his hip. One officer was also involved in a short high speed chase, but used good judgement and called off the chase when he lost sight of the vehicle.

The council also heard the Annual Police Report for 2017. For 2017, the department had 1,531 complaints, 551 service calls, 473 uniform traffic citations issued, 695 traffic warnings issued, 94 municipal ordinance citations, 116 adult/juvenile arrests and 345 parking citations. The department saw a decrease in all their numbers for 2017 compared to 2016 and 2015. The department also saw a substantial decrease in the number of complaints against their officers the past two years. They had no complaints against their officers in 2017. Also, in 2017, 95% of their arrests were made using officer presence and dialog and 5% were done with empty hand control. Of impaired drivers arrested, the department also saw a decrease in number with 24 drivers arrested, 13 involving alcohol, 11 involving illegal drugs and 1 refusing to give a test.
