Owen City Council Covers Several Topics

-The Owen City Council discussed several topics at their meeting last week.The council approved the appointment of the Owen Jr. Fair Board members and the elected officials listed. The council also approved a $100 Christmas bonus for all city employees and they approved cancelling the December 26th City Council Meeting. The council also went into closed session to consider the severance agreement with their Police Chief, extending his administrative leave and consider claims against him from a resident. They denied the severance pay, approved his leave until a determination regarding his employment can be reach and they took no action on the claim.
Finally, they heard the CDC’s Report. Tim Swiggum reported Heartland intends to start operating the Mill in January, but no rail until spring. Rail spur changes are being discussed and they need approval from CN. HOF received a $1,500 grant from United Way. He also mentioned a CCEDC meeting and a Santa reading at the library on Saturday.
