Administrators' Reports at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

Wednesday, December 20th, 2017 -- 9:50 AM

-The Owen Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting last week.

Jr/Sr High School Dean of Students Julie Van Ark congratulated Jennifer Wendler on scoring her 1000th career point in the basketball game against Spencer. Also, the 5th-8th grade students went to Stanley to see the movie “Wonder.” The movie has an excellent anti-bullying message. The Jr/Sr High Christmas concert was held on Monday, December 18th and the 7th grade students will be performing A Christmas Carol. District Administrator Bob Houts distributed Policy 751.21??"Camera Surveillance on School Buses. There was some concern that the district makes sure they have policies in place for the use of cameras on the buses. Policy 75121, which is in their policy manual, covers the area very well.

Also, portions of the minutes from the 1964 annual meeting were distributed. This document shows when the segregation of school board candidates went to 4 rural reps, 2 City of Owen reps and 1 Village of Withee rep. The Board has indicated they would like to have all seven members be “at large” so they can draw more candidates into the elections. To do that a policy will have to be crafted and a motion at the annual meeting will need to be passed. Elections papers were also distributed to Angela Greschner, Julie Wendler and Paul Heggemeier. All three are up for re-election this spring.
