Clark County Health Department Performs Wisconsin Wins Tobacco Checks, Part 3

-The Clark County Health Department has recently completed the Wisconsin Wins tobacco checks.I spoke with Rebecca Rosandick, the health educator for Clark County, and she talked more about the program.
"We know that youth in Clark County are still using tobacco products. Another one of the projects that I work on is called the YBRS or Youth Risk Behavior Survey. Every two years, we ask high schools to have 9th and 11th graders take this survey. In 2016, we had 546 students participate in the high school survey and 10.1% of them said that they had used some sort of tobacco product in the last 30 days."
"So, if you think, out of 546 students, that's quite a few students if you take 10% that have used some sort of tobacco products over the last 30 days. This number was also up slightly from 2014. In 2014, only 8.9% had used some sort of tobacco product in the last 30 days. So we went from 8.9% in 2014, to 10.1% in 2016. And we will be conducting that same survey again in the spring of 2018, so I should have some updated numbers."
Coming up on Tuesday, Rebecca will name the retailers that passed the inspection.
