Granton Village Board Hears MSA Update

-The Granton Village Board heard an MSA update at their meeting on Wednesday.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, an MSA engineer and the Village Board discussed the $ 3,000.19 costs the village incurred due to the failure to hook up water and sewer at a location in the village. Upon further research, MSA agreed the error should probably have been caught. However, MSA pointed out that running water and sewer to this location was not in the initial plans and would have cost the village an additional amount had it been correctly assessed at the time. The village pointed out that the additional costs would have been covered under the CDBG Grant. A compromise of the charges was reached. MSA agreed to pay $2500 and the Village will assume responsibility for the remaining $500.19.
The board also heard about the recycling grant. The recycling grant is based on the weight of recycling collected by the waste management company. The clerk has sent out flyers with the utility bills encouraging everyone to recycle. The village needs to increase the amount of recycling, so this summer the village will work closely with the park to increase the recycling efforts.
