No Sporting Events or Field Trips for Neillsville School District this Week

-All Neillsville School District sporting events and field trips have been cancelled for this week.The district is trying to prevent the spread of whooping cough which has been confirmed in six students so far. Some parents in the community have voice their concern believing the school isn’t doing enough to prevent the spread of the disease. They believe the district should be shut down. District Administrator John Gaier stated that they are working closely with the Clark County Health Department and following their recommendations regarding how to stop the spread. The health department has sent letters to the other school districts in the county making them aware of the situation.
One employee of the health department stated that, contrary to reports from other media outlets, it’s not up to them in regards to closing the school. The decision ultimately lies with the district itself and they only offer recommendations on what should be done. All activities are scheduled to resume on Monday, December 18th.
