Marshfield Man Sentenced for Sexual Assault of a Child

-A Marshfield man was sentenced for sexually assaulting a child in Wood County Court on Tuesday.According to court records, back in March, Rafael Ruiz pleaded guilty to a charge of repeated sexual assault of the same child and second degree sexual assault of a child. Five other charges were dismissed and read in. The incidents that resulted in the charges date back to 2011 and 2014. Ruiz gained some notoriety back in 2009 when he won a $1 million Powerball jackpot.
Ruiz was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 12 years of extended supervision. He’ll also have lifetime supervision and must register as a sex offender. He owes the courts $10,925.65.
